Dear Friends,
I invite you to imagine the Catholic Church in Nashik as a vibrant, living community where everyone feels the compassionate healing of our Lord, and is deeply transformed through the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. I further invite you to Picture our families, parishes, religious institutions, school communities, social work and community building projects being more interconnected, overflowing with the love of Jesus Christ. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we joyfully go out to care for the poor and marginalized, bringing God’s healing love to a world in need especially here in the geographical area of our Diocese of Nashik in Maharashtra.
I am deeply grateful to our Diocesan clergy, religious men and women, and laypeople who have participated in our synodal process of consultation, listening, and planning. Together, we have discerned how we as the people of God of the Diocese of Nashik can accomplish this vision, guided by the Holy Spirit, to spiritually renew our missionary Diocese. As St Paul reminds us, “As servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries” (1 Cor. 4:1), we are all called to this journey of spiritual renewal, both personally and as a local church. Inspired by the mystery and gift of Christ’s sacrifice in the Eucharist, we are invited to respond in gratitude and share His love with others especially the poor, the abandoned and marginalised, those on the peripheries as Pope Francis constantly reminds us in his various messages.
Thank you for your faithful generosity and commitment in the many ways you support us especially through your prayers for all of us in the Diocese. Through the intercession of Mary, Mother of God and our mother, may the Lord guide and accompany us as we proclaim and share the saving love of Jesus Christ throughout the Diocese of Nashik.
To better connect and communicate with our community, we have revamped our Diocesan website. This update will not only make it more accessible and user-friendly but also transform it into a dynamic platform for evangelization, community building, and spreading the teachings of the Church.
In line with Pope Francis' emphasis on the importance of social communications for spreading the Kingdom of God, we recognize the power of digital media to connect with the faithful and share the Gospel in new and innovative ways. As Pope Francis has said, “Communication has the power to build bridges, to enable encounter and inclusion, and thus to enrich society” (World Communications’ Day, 2016). By embracing these tools, we can reach out to more people and bring the message of Christ’s love to a wider audience.
May our efforts in renewing our online presence and enhancing our communication methods help us fulfil our mission of bringing God's healing love to a broken world.
+Barthol Barretto Bishop, Diocese of Nashik
